This New Year Greeting Cover was issued on January 27, 1998, when the Year of Cow had passed and the Year of Tiger had arrived. The stamps picture the animals in traditional folk art mediums. The envelope illustration features a traditional celebration of the Chinese New Year. This special cover was issued on the first occasion of the Spring Festival Grand Gala Celebration held by China Central Television (CCTV), which has subsequently been held every year since. An English de scription of the cover is included.
